Geoffrey Tozer (1954-2009) was Australia's 'greatest and most recorded pianist', the only Australian pianist ever to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Classical Performance. Tozer performed in more than forty countries during an international career that lasted for four decades. He was an exclusive artist of Chandos and the recipient of numerous prizes, having distinguished himself during his early career as a semi-finalist at Leeds (1969), in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (1973) in Fort Worth, Texas, and in the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition in Israel (Gold medallist, 1980).
In December 2014, the former Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Paul Keating launched the first recording ever to be made of Geoffrey Tozer's childhood compositions for the piano: Pieces from Childhood (Move).
